Another Successful Gala! 2018 Sparkling Night

 In Blog, Events

On Friday, November 23, 2018, the Welcome In Drop In Centre hosted the 2nd annual Holiday Gala: A Sparkling Night. The event, which hosted over 90 guests (adults and children), was an opportunity for the community members that utilize the Drop In Centre to come together to embrace the holiday spirit with dinner, gifts, and community fellowship!

The Food

For the second time, the event was catered by Tim Halley Catering. The meal included three types of bruschetta bread, roast sirloin of beef au jus with mashed potatoes and roasted vegetables, followed by a decadent desert of almond raspberry tart. We would like to thank Tim and his team for once again providing us with an outstanding meal!

The Clothes

Similar to last year, coordinators of the event collected formal wear donations from throughout Guelph and Wellington County, so that ticket holders could access a large selection of clothing items to wear to the Gala.

Although the Gala has no dress code, the majority of individuals who attended the event took advantage of the opportunity to dress up. We would like to extend a huge thank you to everyone who donated formal wear for the event, and to all the volunteers who took the time to assist in sorting the clothing to be ready for guests of the Gala to browse!

All clothing not used for this year’s Gala will be saved for next year’s attendees.

The Donors

Thanks to many generous donors, everyone who attended the Gala was able to receive two gifts! A number of local community members and businesses donated to the Gala, including Winners Cambridge, HomeSense Cambridge, Marshalls Guelph, McNeil Consumer Healthcare Guelph, Egg Farmers of Ontario, Costco Guelph, City of Guelph, Buns Master Bakery, River Run Centre, Starbucks – Wellington St Guelph, Freshii – Gordon St
